There's a place for you
in Te Waipounamu
Welcome to our diocese which covers the lower half of Aotearoa - New Zealand. That's the whole of the South Island (Te Waipounamu), Stewart Island and the Chathams, plus outreaches in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. For a close-knit community, we get around.
We're one of five hui amorangi (dioceses) that make up Te Pihipotanga o Aotearoa (the Maori Anglican Church). Our base is Te Hepara Pai in Phillipstown, Otautahi-Christchurch, which is a daily buzz of activity.
As a church we put worship and ministry at the top of our agenda. But we also offer a wide range of social services and educational programmes including chaplaincy training and ministry formation. If you want to grow in Christ, there's plenty of scope for you at Te Whare Wananga o Te Waipounamu.
Importantly, we're a community that looks out for one another – through song and laughter, karakia and kai. So drop in and see what we're up to, especially on Sunday mornings. Hospitality in the name of Jesus Christ is a cornerstone of Te Waipounamu.
Mā te Atua o te tūmanako,
e whakaū o koutou ngākau
ki te koa, ki te rangimārie
kia pono ai tātou,
i runga i te ihi, i te mana,
o te Wairua Tapu.
